Lydia and Hazel ventured off into the Great Smoky Mountains today. Lydia who has never been one to ignore a call to adventure is spending her spring break away from everything. She is hiking the Appalachian train for about 50 miles through North Carolina / Tennessee.
Of course, I'm a little jealous. The idea of ignoring, well... everything would be super cool. She will be seeing some amazing sights only seen by those willing to put in the effort to get to them.

The funny thing I have noticed about me has been my prayers. Over the past couple years, as I have been trying to understand prayer better, my actual prayers have become more rare and distant. But this week, not so much. Reminiscent of the phrase, "there are no atheists in foxholes," I have been praying a lot! I know the chance of anything bad happening is very low, but still I worry. I guess the parent does not die when the kid leaves home! Of course, I have been on hiking trips before and made my family wonder if I would fall off a cliff, but I was never the one at home waiting for the call when the family member emerges from the woods and finds a cell phone signal. Now I know how much I prefer to be the one in the woods! They should emerge on Thursday the 14th. I can't wait.
